This is one of the allegedly racist statements appearing in the 1992 Ron Paul newsletters: "Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks."

Isn't welfare intended to pacify the underclasses? Aren't blacks well represented in that group? The 1992 newsletter statement may be mistaken about policy or demographics, but I don't see how it can be classified racist. Maybe you find the statement rude and offensive? Is it anywhere near as rude and offensive as 2010 Republican presidential nominee John McCain singing "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran"?

That's our politically correct age for you. The chattering classes deem thought crime a graver matter than bombing and blockading innocent civilians. Truly, we're all humanitarians with a guillotine now.
