Neoconservatives do see Munichs everywhere—except the most ubiquitous Munich of them all. The U.S. garrisons 575,000 troops in 700 military bases in 130 countries encircling the globe. Its permanent regime of bombing and blockading has left hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, Afghans and Pakistanis dead, maimed or homeless. Yet no power on earth dares stand up to the U.S. Only the impending economic collapse brought on by imperial overreach will bring our rogue nation to its knees.

Only a neoconman (emphasis on con) can wring his hands over the “appeasement” of Iran and North Korea while blithely ignoring the world's Munich of his favorite Globocop. George Orwell put it best: "To see what is directly in front of one's nose requires a constant struggle."
