This is my response to the "Bloody Taxes" article linked above, leading with a snip of that article, and the author's reply to my response.

"People need blood. According to America’s Blood Centers, someone needs blood every two seconds. One in seven people entering a hospital will need blood. One pint of blood can save up to three lives."

The political culture has succumbed to the heresy of utilitarianism. That's why so many so blithely embrace the idea of taxation. They believe a large number of people ought to be "mildly" inconvenienced,--by being forced to pay three-eighths to one-half (or more!) of their income in taxes--so that a larger number of people can come to enjoy the amenities of life.

This kind of utilitarianism just opens a Pandora's box. Your blood-tax analogy illustrates the point, but why stop there? I'm a healthy middle-aged male. It just so happens I have only a spouse and a daughter to support. What business do I have retaining use of my lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, corneas, pancreas, spleen, ear lobes, etc., when so many other not-so-healthy males (and females) have multiple dependents to support? The benevolent solons at the helm of State would do well to off me and harvest my internal organs, don't you think? Think of the lives my internal organs would save!

Please keep the contents of this missive to yourself. I don't want to give anybody any ideas--greedy bastard that I am.

Ha! :)
Actually I started off in am earlier draft talking about organs but felt that with the limited supply and permanent loss redistributionist people would say it is not quite the same. Though I bet they would support it too. Don't worry, I won't share this email with anyone. Your organs are safe for now...
