Morality Versus (?) Obedience

"Morality is doing what is right regardless of what you are told; obedience is doing what you are told regardless of what is right."
LOL. Morality is obedience to a moral code (duh!), purportedly transcendent, that someone--your mom and dad, church, community, peers, Ayn Rand, Con Duper, or the inner recesses of your festeringly corrupt soul--told you is right. Talk about begging the question.

Those who adopt a moral code at odds with your own will accuse you of having been "indoctrinated." Meaning, of course, that they have an inside (!) line on common (!!) sense (!!!).

No One Dares Criticize the Catholic Church.

Voltaire famously observed: "To learn who rules over you, simply find out whom you are not allowed to criticize." A lifelong Catholic hater, he knew of what he spoke. Within a few short years of his death, French Revolutionaries had butchered 300,000 recalcitrant Catholic peasants in the Vende'e. But even in the midst of that studiously ignored atrocity, freethinkers walked on eggshells when criticizing the Church of Rome. The reticence continues to this day.

It is an entirely different matter when it comes to Jewish influence. One might lambast America's one-sided alliance with Israel; bristle at Jewish domination of Hollywood, the mainstream media, and U.S. State Department; or even--and this one is for mature audiences only--question the Official Holocaust (TM) Account. One would in those cases contend with nothing more threatening than a handful of angry emails.

Same goes for casting jaundiced eyes at Islam. Mock the Prophet and the average Mohammedan shrugs it off. Religion of Peace, you know.

Talmudists and Mohammedans are renowned for their tolerance. Nobody risks life, limb, decapitation, reputation, or career when taking them on. Try that stuff with the Whore of Babylon, you'll have hell to pay.

Riposte:

While I don't share your animus, Old Sport, I can't help but give you props. Talk about cojones!

You could have gone after a safe target. You could have applied your rapier wit on, say, the Mohammedans or Jews. Nobody risks good name and career, let alone life, limb, or noggin, when taking on those cream puffs. Mock the Prophet? Question the Official Holocaust (TM) Account? Child's play! Worst case, you'll face a barrage of angry emails.

It's a whole other ballgame when you put the Church of Rome in your cross hairs. "To learn who rules over you," life-long Catholic hater Voltaire famously observed, "simply find out whom you are not allowed to criticize." He knew of what he spoke. Everybody walks on eggshells around that Bastion of Reaction.

Letter to Dr. Gary Kohls

"Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero broke with Catholic tradition by caring for the poor."

Dear Dr. Kohls:

I might take offense at your gratuitous insult. In point of fact, the Catholic Church is the world's premier charitable organization, both in reach and impact. But let's leave that triviality to one side. I'm here to give you your props, not inveigh against your bigotry.

"To learn who rules over you, simply find out whom you are not allowed to criticize." Lifelong Catholic hater Voltaire is reputed to have made that observation a few short years before French Revolutionaries butchered 300,000 recalcitrant Catholic peasants in the Vende'e. But even in the midst of that studiously ignored atrocity, people walked on egg shells when criticizing the Church. Voltaire knew of what he spoke.

It's an entirely different matter when it comes to Jewish power. You could have lambasted America's one-sided alliance with Israel, bristled at Jewish influence in Hollywood, the mainstream media and U.S. State Department, or even--and this one is for mature audiences only--questioned the Official Holocaust Narrative. You
would have contended with nothing more challenging than a handful of angry emails.

Same goes for Islam. You can mock the Prophet and the average Mohammedan shrugs it off. Religion of Peace, you know.

Happily, the Jews and Mohammedans are laid-back and good-natured. Nobody risks life, limb, head, reputation, or career for flouting the beliefs of those stalwart humanitarians. So while
I may not agree with what you say, I admire your courage in saying it.
