"Aks"
I was on a phone conference in a colleague's office a few years back with the vice-president (!) of a bank on the line. We were discussing the transfer of our pension trust to her bank. Not only did she say "aks" when she meant "ask," but she kept repeating the word "askess." (So she could say "askess" but not "ask"?!)
Did she mean "access" or "assets"? We were discussing both the transfer of pension assets and security measures controlling access to those assets. Both words were plausible in context. My colleague hit the mute button several times in the course of the conference to ask me whether she said "assets" or "access." I had no idea.
